Glendora Education Foundation Raises $250,000 In One Night with the help of celebrity artist Michael Israel!

The following is a press release from the Glendora Education Foundation:

The Glendora Education Foundation raised more than $250,000 at its 10th annual Food for Thought fundraiser on April 28th.  Held every year as the Foundation’s largest event, the gala raises funds to support the students of the Glendora Unified School District.

In celebration of the event’s 10th year, nationally renowned performance artist Michael Israel was featured as the highlight of the evening’s entertainment.  Israel wowed the audience of more than 350 with his lively show, in which he theatrically speed paints to music.  The five works of art he created were then auctioned to the highest bidders, with proceeds going to the Foundation.

During the evening, Glendora Education Foundation Co-President Elizabeth Reuter revealed the Foundation’s new goal:  To begin transforming education in Glendora to a 21st-Century learning environment, which will prepare students for the technology-oriented world.  Nearly $25,000 was pledged in a separate paddle-raise to fund teacher training in technology, which is essential to this mission.

The annual fundraiser changes venues every year, showcasing one of Glendora’s many extraordinary properties.  This year’s event took place amid the fountains and waterfalls of the 3-acre Munoz Ranch, set in the South Hills of Glendora.  Attendees wined, dined and enjoyed the silent and live auction items donated by Glendora’s local businesses, school families and community members.

To date, the Glendora Education Foundation has raised more than $4 million for Glendora Unified students. Other fundraising efforts include an annual golf tournament, Glendora Schools Week, and school-based campaigns that target the needs of individual schools.
