Louisiana Fishermen are an integral part of the state’s culture. Whether they are Cajun, Vietnamese, Croatian, or Yugoslavian, they all help to make up the “Cultural Gumbo” of this great state. They are very much like those who make up other fishing communities around the world. They are honest, proud, hardworking people. They treasure the simple things in life and are, in fact, our nation’s treasure.
Friends of the Fishermen is the officially recognized fund of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board and created as a way to help Louisiana’s fishermen in their greatest time of need (see Mission Statement.) We ask you to join us in unified support as we collectively call upon our friends and neighbors, corporations, foundations, and both non-governmental and governmental organizations to do their part.
Our fishermen need your help. Their products help to create the amazing cuisine that puts Louisiana restaurants and chefs on the map; their fishing communities drive our unique culture. Our fishermen are unable to do the thing they love most: fish. Please help support our fishermen by making a contribution. Your generosity will directly help sustain Louisiana’s culture, heritage and way of life.
