I usually don’t post things like this but I feel the need to share this with everyone. A charity event for Akron Children’s Hospital was hosted at Stambaugh tonight and was catered by Leo’s Ristorantè. I’ve been going to Akron Children’s since I was 13 for a rare kidney disease that I was diagnosed with 4 years ago. But tonight just made me realize how important Akron really is not just to me but many other patients too. To see Michael Israel paint on 5 different canvases, two of them sold for $19,000 and all the others sold too, was just so inspiring. Michael had said something like this, “I’m no doctor. I can’t prescribe medicine or help a patient become healthy. But I can put paint on a canvas, make art, and hope to God I can raise some money.” His words that were spoken had me in tears. He definitely marked my heart tonight and I’m so thankful for what Michael’s hard work and thoughtfulness he put into this event. I’m truly blessed for the opportunity I have been given and also to live my life as much as I can all because of my faith, family, and Akron Children’s Hospital.
Thank you Michael Israel for making the Akron Children’s Mahoning Valley fundraiser for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine such a success!! My patients and I will be enjoying Superboy in the office for years to come! I can’t wait to see the reaction of the children. You are so talented and it was a pleasure meeting you.
